Cumin Cuminum cyminumBack
Of course most of us are familiar with Cumin - as a spice used in food - particularly Indian food. In fact, most Cumin (it's the seed that is used) is grown in India and most of that is consumed in India itself.
But Cumin has been used for thousands of years - as far back as 2000 BC.
The seeds are light in colour with a striped effect on their casing. They can be used whole or ground into powder.
It's traditionally used as a way of helping digestion.
