Shalaparni Desmodium gangeticum

Shalaparni is a small plant which grows to a maximum of four feet and which is usually only found at altitudes of above 5000 feet in India. Its flowers are a delicate purple and white and the leaves are sprinkled with tiny soft hairs.

The taste of this herb is surprisingly sweet and is most famously used in the traditional Ayurvedic 10 herb formula known as ‘Dashamoola’ and Mahanarayan Oil that we have made our own version of in Active Oil.
